Can I just say that it has been a great week, and it is only Thursday. Hallelujah. :) In all honestly, I haven’t really done anything exciting to tell you about… spent lots of hours at our favorite coffee shop studying/reading/writing with friends, had a few girl/movie nights, went to class, listened to some podcasts… that’s really about it. I’ve really enjoyed it though, which is great, because as of yet, Quito (as opposed to Ecuador as a whole) has been a little difficult to enjoy. The sun has been shining, with some evening rainstorms. My family and friends here have been wonderful. Life is just good.
Earlier this week I was walking down the street and saw this group of dreaded (as in with dread locks) Afro-Ecuadorians sitting in a circle “beat-boxing”… they had 2 empty gallon sized water bottles, an egg carton, a plastic cake plate, and a laptop case of some sort and they were beating up a storm. it was like Paseo drum circle night, Ecua-style. So cool. The guy in the middle was spitting on some sweet reggae rap and the others would randomly jump in. They were so good. I stood there watching it, soaking in all the good vibes these rasta-men were throwing at us, wishing Lizzy and Josh and lots of other people could be there to see it too.
The end is getting close. Honestly, the closer it gets, the more I realize how much I am going to miss this place. I really love it here. It will be so good to be home and see friends and family, and drink tap water too though. haha :) I’m so jealous of all of you that are almost done. I made a list last night and realized how much I actually have to get done before I leave… yikes… lots of papers, and presentations, and exams… its gonna be a busy month. but definitely vale la pena.
Love you all, SEE you SOON :)
